A message from Russell...
Shhh...This is a quiet place on my website, and very
special to my foster parents. They remember with
sadness and fondness all my brothers and sisters
that they have lost whilst in their care.... |
An unknown author wrote about a fictional place called the
'Rainbow Bridge' where dogs go when they pass away. At the
Rainbow Bridge, dogs and their loving owners are reunited
once both have passed away. We'd like to think that our special
wombats that we have had in care and passed away, travel
spiritually to a similar place - the Twilight Meadow.
The Twilight Meadow is a unique place, halfway between heaven
and earth. It is a large, grassy meadow with no harsh sunshine,
just a gentle light that's the same as you would find at
dusk or dawn. The temperature is cool, but not cold,
and a soft breeze is the only thing that stirs the air.
In the Twilight Meadow there are no dangers from man or
predators. There are no motor vehicles, no guns, no poisons,
no loud or frightening noises. There are no diseases, there
are no dangers, there is no animosity - all is safe and tranquil.
All wombats in the Twilight Meadow are 'whole' again and
do not suffer from disease or ailment. There are no broken
limbs or bones, there is no mange, there is no pain, there
is no sadness, only delight and joy.
In the Twilight Meadow, orphaned joeys are happily reunited
with their mothers. There are plenty of excited wombat "huff
huff" noises and the gentle nuzzling of mothers and
joeys. Wombats who were buddied up in pairs whilst in care
are reunited with their joey friends and delight each other
playing wombat games. There are plenty of 'wombat grins'
and 'bucking of backsides', and rough and tumble chasing
games.
In the Twilight Meadow there is always an abundance of green
grass and wombat delicacies such as lichen, moss and delectable
chewy tussock. A babbling brook makes it's way through the
Twilight Meadow and the water from it is always clean, sweet
and cool.
The ground in the Twilight Meadow is firm, but not too soft
- ideal for digging burrows. There are plenty of burrows
to dig in and plenty of roots to chew. Wombats who wish to
partake in the frenzy of spring cleaning a burrow with plenty
of digging can do so and extend and maintain their burrows
to their heart's content.
In the Twilight Meadow the wombats look down and watch over
all the other earthly wombats in foster care. In their dreams
they tell stories when they were in care and of the love
and kindness their foster human parents gave them. They guide
their earthly brothers and sisters, and act as their guardian
angels.
And every now and then, the spirits of foster carers are
invited to the Twilight Meadow to sit on the grass and bask
in the company of the wombats they lost, the ones they tried
so hard to save, the ones they miss so much.
In loving memory of those we couldn't
save, and those that passed away in our care...
